Your best bet is the 4.5-mile trail that traces the Lake Lynn shoreline. The 12-foot-wide paved walkway is handicap-accessible and affords plenty of space. Be sure to make a stop at the nature viewing on the southern tip of the trail.

Caperton Trail is an asphalt-paved trail that is close to six miles long in one direction. The trail runs through the Hazel Ruby McQuain Riverfront Park, the Edit Barill Park and the West Virginia University Core Arboretum, while providing great views of the Monongahela River. It's good for all skill levels, and if you'd like to bring your dog along on your run, you can, but it must be kept on a leash.
