• Experience 30 Years of Tradition at the West Virginia Zoo
The West Virginia Zoo has experienced tremendous growth since it was established 30 years ago. Initially, the West Virginia Zoo was a small, local attraction, featuring a select few species of animals like deer, cougars, and black bears. It was a popular place for families to visit from the start, and all of those visitors have helped the zoo grow into what it has become today. Now, there are more than 30 different species of animals to see from all over the world, while the zoo's commitment to community, conservation, and sustainability remain as strong as ever.

• Discover More Than 30 Species of Animals
The number of animals at the West Virginia Zoo has grown significantly over the years and includes species from nearly every corner of the globe. Today, you can see species like the Himalayan Bear, Spotted Leopard, Ringtail Lemur, Spider Monkey, Japanese Macaque, Orange Bengal Tiger, and African Lion. You'll also find more familiar species, including the pot belly pig, bobcat, camel, goat, and various fascinating reptiles.

• Special Experiences at the Zoo
As a smaller, local zoo, the West Virginia Zoo offers experiences you won't find at every zoo. During the summer season, guests can feed the animals, including some exotic species, enjoy an up-close, hands-on experience with the animals at the petting zoo, or participate in fun, seasonal events. The biggest annual event comes in the winter when the zoo is decked out in lights for the holidays. You can find updates on the latest upcoming events on the West Virginia Zoo Facebook Page.

• Pricing and What to Know Before You Visit
Tickets for the West Virginia Zoo can be purchased on-site when you visit, and any items you need to enjoy your visit can be purchased at the gift shop. Tickets cost $12.99 for visitors aged 13+ and $10.99 for those aged 3-12. Visitors under 3 years of age are free, and there's a $1.00 discount on tickets for military members. You can also purchase a season pass for $58 for adults and $46 for kids aged 3-12.

• More Attractions to Enjoy Near the West Virginia Zoo
After you're finished with the zoo, why not experience some other local attractions? Seneca Caverns, Blackwater Falls State Park, and the West Virginia University campus are all located a short trip from the zoo. If you're visiting from out of town, nearby resorts like Canaan Valley Resort and Wisp Resort make it easy to plan your stay.
