Once upon a time, we believed Earth had unlimited resources. There would always be plenty of trees, clean air, and water to meet our needs, regardless of how much we used them.
Today, we have a better understanding of our society's responsibility to safeguard Earth's precious resources, some of which are seriously depleted. In our commitment to eco-friendly practices, two of our real estate agents and I have earned the GREEN Designation offered by the National Association of REALTORS®.
As a whole, buildings comprise the greatest use of energy in the country. NAR recognizes that real estate professionals are in a unique position to share green principles and promote sustainable practices within their communities.
NAR's Real Estate Buyer's Agent Council saw the need to help facilitate this important role. In 2008, they developed the GREEN Designation for real estate professionals. The Green REsource Council was then formed to administer the program and serve as an ambassador for the green real estate industry.

West Virginia and Morgantown are home to some of the most beautiful areas in the United States. Unfortunately, when rating eco-friendly states, sources such as Forbes, U.S. News & World Report, and WalletHub regularly place West Virginia at or near the bottom, particularly in the area of green energy.
At Heritage Real Estate, we're passionate about Morgantown and committed to supporting the city's environmental, economic, and social development. In our ongoing quest to stay current on issues that impact Morgantown, Debbie Saunders, Bill Porter, and I voluntarily completed NAR's two-part course to earn their GREEN Designation.
Thanks to NAR's course, we've gained in-depth knowledge on a number of energy- and environmental-related topics relevant to Morgantown homes for sale, such as:
Our GREEN Designation also provides us with exclusive access to newsletters, webinars, professional networks, and a wealth of tools and resources so we can remain up-to-date on this fast-paced subject.
Morgantown's Harvest Ridge neighborhood has received a three-star GREEN rating and certification from the Home Innovation Research Labs. Ratings are determined by how high a home or neighborhood scores in areas such as Site Design, Resource Efficiency, and Indoor Environmental Quality.
We want to see Morgantown become one of the top GREEN cities in the United States. How energy-efficient is your home? Solar investment tax credits, first instituted in 2007, are still in play thanks to multiple extensions.
Two stages currently remain in the sunsetting program. Investments made prior to January 1, 2021 are eligible for 26 percent credit, while the number drops to 22 percent for investments made before January 1, 2022. Qualifying properties include products such as solar water heaters, geothermal heat pumps, and solar electric property.
Together, we can turn Morgantown GREEN. Contact us at Heritage Real Estate to learn more about eco-friendly practices for your home.
