Morgantown Charitable Holiday Giving - Heritage Real Estate Co.

The holiday season is the perfect time to share some cheer and give back to the community. Our real estate agents love the people of Morgantown and are dedicated to helping the less fortunate, not just during the holidays, but year-round. When they take time out from showing clients Morgantown homes for sale, these are some of the amazing charities they like to support.

  1. Christian Help - 219 Walnut St., Morgantown
Serving the Morgantown community with compassion since 1975, Christian Help provides all types of emergency help to those in crisis or struggling with poverty. Their programs and projects are supported through volunteer service, financial contributions, and in-kind donations from the Morgantown community. From emergency financial assistance to clothing to food, this charitable organization is committed to helping individuals find stability with respect and dignity. Their Jobs For Life program helps people of all ages overcome roadblocks and find meaningful work. They're always looking for volunteers, especially this time of year when their annual holiday toy and food drive goes into full swing.

  2. Community Kitchen - 247 Willey St., Morgantown
Started in 1984 by a group of Morgantown churches and synagogues, Community Kitchen is a non-denominational, non-profit organization that serves free lunches in a clean, uplifting environment. In 2017, Morgantown Community Kitchen served more than 18,000 meals to the hungry. Food is purchased from the Mountaineer Food Bank and local stores and is also donated by local restaurants, stores, and individuals. They are always in need of volunteers to pick up food donations, prepare and serve food, and clean up at the kitchen. Charitable contributions and donations of fresh food, cleaning supplies and other items such as paper products are also much appreciated.

  3. Morgantown Service League - 313 Chestnut St., Morgantown
Since 1935, the Service League has worked to improve the lives of people in the Morgantown community. They have given more than $347,000 back to charitable, educational, and cultural organizations such as Meals on Wheels, the Morgantown Public Library, and Mongolia County Schools. The oldest stone dwelling in Monongalia County, The Old Stone House is home to the Morgantown Service League's headquarters. Its gift shop features arts and crafts from West Virginia artisans and artists from around the country, books, specialty candies, and more.  All sales benefit the League's community outreach services.

  4. Compass Women's Center - 265 High St. #601, Morgantown
Compass Women's Center connects pregnant women to the resources and information they need to make informed decisions about unexpected pregnancies. Their services are free and include pregnancy testing, medical provider referrals, information about adoption, and pregnancy and parenting education.

  5. Sunnyside Up - 709 Beechurst Ave. #30, Morgantown
Also known as the Campus Neighborhoods Revitalization Corporation (CNRC), Sunnyside Up is a non-profit organization that's dedicated to assisting or engaging development, design, financing, and implementation of urban use plans designed to eradicate blight, improve quality of life, and prevent a decline in the neighborhoods surrounding the West Virginia University campus. Created in October 2002 with the support of the City of Morgantown and West Virginia University, Sunnyside Up partners with other economic development groups to continue to revitalize the Sunnyside neighborhood and other areas surrounding the WVU campus.

  6. Ronald McDonald House - 841 Country Club Drive, Morgantown
For families with sick children, the holidays can be especially difficult. That's where the Ronald McDonald House Morgantown comes in. Located near WVU Medical Children's Hospital, the Ronald McDonald House provides free accommodations, meals, and other services for families seeking treatment for their kids.
