Main Street Fairmont - Heritage Real Estate Co.

Ask anyone who's lived in or visited Fairmont, WV, and they'll tell you that this charming city is a lovely place for people of all ages to call home. Our real estate agents enjoy every moment we can spend showing potential buyers everything the area has to offer. We are especially thrilled to tell them about the continuing efforts of the Main Street Fairmont, a local organization dedicated to improving the downtown area and revitalizing the community.

Main Street Fairmont Revitalization Efforts

The City of Fairmont has a rich history dating back to 1899 when it was first chartered. This enduring area still shows the hallmarks of welcoming community nicknamed The Friendly Town. However, like many towns throughout the Appalachia region, the passing of time has resulted in significant issues that present obstacles for many of Fairmont's residents. Thankfully, one community organization has committed itself to bringing new life to Fairmont.

Main Street Fairmont was founded to promote and develop the downtown Fairmont area so that families, business owners, students, and people of all backgrounds could engage with each other and enjoy time spent in this family-friendly destination. For years, the board of directors has overseen the development of downtown Fairmont, creating opportunities for businesses and consumers to thrive in this historic district. With the intention of making The Friendly City a place where locals will love to live, and travelers will love to visit, Main Street Fairmont is committed to cultivating local commerce, improving the property values throughout downtown, creating a safe and interactive atmosphere for all ages, and working together with the community for a brighter, friendlier future.

Upcoming Events in Downtown Fairmont

Main Street Fairmont is actively attracting locals and visitors to the community through several exciting events. They host a monthly First Friday event that includes music, food, and fun. They also host a Farmer's Market on Tuesdays and Thursdays from June through October. Other events include their annual:

  • Sculpture Competitions that build an Art Walk through Palatine Park that will eventually fill the city
  • NightGLOW 5K race for runners and walkers to promote exploration of the district
  • Feast of the Seven Fishes Italian festival to celebrate the arrival of winter
  • Festival Cucina Italian festival in celebration of Christmas and Italian cooking

For more weekly fun, get your hands on a Main Street Fairmont Wooden Nickel that gets you exclusive discounts and promotions to merchants throughout downtown.

How You Can Get Involved

Would you like to help Fairmont's future blossom? There are plenty of ways residents, visitors, and charitable individuals can help. Sponsorship opportunities are available for those who wish to become a FRIEND of Downtown Fairmont. This sponsorship helps fund revitalization efforts as well as community events that are free to locals. With your sponsorship, you'll receive benefits such as grant assistance, advertising opportunities, exclusive sale promotions, design assistance, publicity, and build professional relationships with statewide agencies.

For those who wish to help but cannot do so financially, we invite you to support Main Street Fairmont by volunteering on one of their three committees: Design, Economic Restructuring, and Promotions. Every cent and moment of your time will impact the people and businesses of Fairmont for generations to come.

If you'd like to call Fairmont home and witness its revitalization, contact us today! Our agents will gladly show you Fairmont homes for sale that you can transform into your dream home!
