Historic Sites - Morgantown, WV - Heritage Real Estate Co.

From its perch alongside the Monongahela River, Morgantown has built an incredible history since the area was settled in the late 1700s. Join our real estate agents in celebrating Morgantown's rich tradition. Plan a visit to these historic sites for Heritage Treasures Day on Monday, January 11.

  1. Seneca Center - 709 Beechurst Ave., Morgantown, WV 26505
Morgantown's past and present meet at Seneca Center, once a major site for the city's robust glass-making industry. Today the center is home to a number of boutiques and offices, but the building retains the brick-lined walls and wooden floors that provide appealing character. The 100-foot glass furnace chimney still stands, as does the distinctive red water tower that signals the center's location. Visit the website for a list of businesses and hours.

West Virginia State Anthem - Heritage Real Estate Co.

"Almost heaven, West Virginia." Residents of the Mountain State, including our real estate agents, have long recognized the truth of that sentiment. Today, thanks to an iconic song by John Denver, people around the world know about the glorious beauty of West Virginia.

June 20, 2020, marked the 157th birthday of West Virginia. While the annual celebration in Morgantown is postponed, this is a good occasion to take a look back at the story behind "Take Me Home, Country Roads" and how it became a state anthem.

Morgantown, WV Attractions - Heritage Real Estate Co.

In naming Morgantown the "Best Small Town in West Virginia," Southern Living says the city "thinks big but lives small." Morgantown has the sophistication and variety of amenities found in the best urban areas, while its friendly, close-knit community provides the most enviable aspects of small-town living.

If that's not enough, here are six specific reasons why local residents and our real estate agents believe Morgantown is a great place to call home.

  1. Monongalia County Fair - 500 Mylan Park Lane, Morgantown, WV 26501
What's summer in America without a great local fair? For more than 60 years, Monongalia County Fair has drawn thousands of visitors from across West Virginia and neighboring states. Traditional events and activities such as a kickoff parade, midway rides, food and craft exhibits, and livestock shows are part of the five-day event. Unlike many fairs, all rides, shows, and concerts are included in the low admission price of $10 ($15 on Saturday). The 2020 Monongalia County Fair is scheduled for Tuesday, August 11 through Saturday, August 15.
